If Obama and the rest of the West would just stay out of it, quit supporting the status quo, and let the Egyptians work it out for themselves, the world would be a better place..
What will Obama do, send in some drones to arbitrarily kill a few hundred civilians and then act as if US security was at stake?
The Arab Spring happened in spite of quasi-Western interference, not because of it…and no democracy has a smooth transition for dictatorship to utopia, including the US, which is hardly in a position to ‘warn’ or ‘put on notice” regarding violence…
Besides, these rather half-assed ‘warnings’ are all about money, not anything like morality or concern for civilian lives…
Perhaps the rest of the world outside of Egypt and other Arab nations did not want the vote to go to Morsi, including me, but the way that this country deals with its issues should not be up for discussion or interference, from the country with an equally horrendous human rights record, especially in other countries..(can you say ‘rendition’?)
Obama should look in the mirror, and wonder why his own popularity is in the toilet…and deal with the teabaggers who would bring the US to it’s fundamentalist way of thinking with just a little more encouragement, while he and other Western leaders poke their probosci where they are not wanted….rather than deal with the crises at home..
